STEP (Senior Tax Exchange Program)

The Oconto Falls School District Board of Education and Falls Area Community Enrichment Program (FACE) recognizes and welcomes the many gifts and talents our senior citizens have to contribute to our school system. To that end, FACE is pleased to sponsor the Senior Tax Exchange Program (STEP).  Through STEP, senior citizens are given the opportunity to work in the district and apply their earnings toward payment of property taxes.

WHO QUALIFIES?

Any senior citizen 62 years of age or older who receives Social Security and has taxable property within the Oconto Falls School District.

HOW IS A WORKER COMPENSATED?

The compensation, which is $10.00 per hour, (maximum of $595.00) is distributed annually in the form of a two party check made out to the worker and the appropriate county treasurer.

APPLICATION DETAILS

A STEP applicant indicates the type of work and the amount of hours she/he desires.  This information is matched with a staff member’s job request which must be directly related to her/his primary area of responsibility.  An interview will precede actual employment.

More information and application forms are available upon request by calling the Oconto Falls High School and asking for Jerry Moynihan.  Spaces in the STEP program are limited and are assigned to fill specific needs on a first come first served basis.
