The LMC will be open until 6:00pm.

Attention 5th hour Study Hall students:    After 1st lunch, all 5th hour students who have Miss Thiel or Mr. Heisel for study hall, should report directly to the LMC.  All other study halls should report to the commons today.  Sign outs begin on Monday.

A message from Principal Moore:

Good morning everyone – welcome to the start of 2nd semester!

It wasn’t easy  – but we made it through Semester One!  Lots of challenges and changes – but we’re halfway there!  Hopefully, everyone was able to really focus and finish up the first semester well.

As you know – we are now back in school 5 days per week.  This week and next, we’ll run a regular bell schedule with no homerooms or learning labs scheduled at this point.  Let’s really work to get off to a strong start!

Please make sure to pay extra attention to our COVID mitigation strategies.  In the last week or so, correct mask-wearing started to slide – also social distancing, especially at lunch.  We understand that you are probably tired of this pandemic  – we all are – but these are things that we have to do.   Masks have to be worn over the mouth and nose – in classrooms and hallways.  Social distancing is 6 feet at noon.

Thanks in advance for your efforts to meet these expectations.  We really do want the school climate to be a positive one – it’s more difficult than normal given the pandemic but we’ll do our best.  We’d like to focus on positive things – ideas for helping you be successful in classes;  creative things that we can do to bring some fun and excitement back into school.  We’re open to ideas – Student Council is working to come up with ideas for the 2nd semester – and again, we’ll do our best.  We hope to be able to focus on these types of positive projects instead of diverting our focus with addressing basic COVID expectations.  These are safety precautions that simply need to be followed.

Thanks again – have a good day, everyone!

An Important Announcement from Mr. Moore:

January 12, 2021

Good morning Oconto Falls High School!

Last night the Oconto Falls Board of Education approved a change in our schedule across the district.  Starting Monday, January 25, we’ll be attending school in person five days per week.  All of our precautions – masking, social distancing, and handwashing – will continue to be in place – but we’re excited for the consistency that being here five days per week will bring!  Again – that will start in two weeks.

We are in the final instructional week of the semester – congratulations on making it to the midpoint of this challenging year!  Let’s work to finish up the semester well!

This week, we’ll have Learning Labs today, Thursday, and Friday.  If you have any questions on course requirements, missing work, etc. – please use that time well.  If you are doing well in your classes and have everything in, this is a nice chance to get some extra study time in before exams or just relax a bit.

This week Wednesday, we’ll have our virtual schedule, as always.

Next week, we’ll be running block schedules on Monday (odd period classes) and Tuesday (even period classes) to allow for end of semester exams and other assessments.  Each block is 90 minutes long.  The schedule will be posted (is also below).  Study halls are required unless you have parent permission to be excused.  If you are struggling academically, again this is a great opportunity to get caught up.

Next Wednesday is a virtual learning day – but we will not be running the usual virtual schedule that day.  This day will be for taking make up exams (as arranged with individual teachers) and catching up on missing work.  All work for 1st semester is due that day by 3:30 p.m.  Teachers are available to work with you that day – virtually or in person – as needed.

If you have successfully completed all course requirements, there will be no additional required activities assigned by teachers this day.  You can use this day at home, at your discretion, to prepare for the start of the 2nd semester; begin considering course options for next school year; explore college and career options; and/or catch up on some reading.

Again – let’s finish up the semester well – and if you need some help with anything, let us know!

End of 1st semester assessment schedule

Monday, January 18      Tuesday, January 19

1st hour:   8:00-9:30            2nd hour:   8:00-9:30
