Welcome to Abrams Elementary School!

Welcome from the Principal --
Hello, my name is Joanne Michalski, and I am the Principal of Abrams Elementary School. I have been in education for almost 30 years and have proudly served this community for over a decade. I absolutely love being a part of this school community.
I have two children who are approaching high school age. As a family, we enjoy playing games, spending time by our pool, watching and playing sports, and attending school plays and musicals.
Our School's Commitment --
Abrams Elementary School is built on strong traditions and maintains a wonderful small-town country feel. We continue to honor and build upon these traditions. Our strong commitment to excellence is evident in the daily teaching and learning that takes place here. Both our staff and students strive to achieve greatness each and every day.
Our school offers 1:1 technology, utilizing Chromebooks for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Technology is intergrated into the daily curriculum, with staff and students actively using Clevertouch Boards, eduTyping, Dreambox, Math Fact Lab and many other programs to extend learning opportunities. These resources assist us in providing high-quality educational experiences.
We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school, promoting and celebrating the great behavioral choices our students make. We recognize students each week on our announcements. Staff acknowledge students who exemplify our monthly "Character Trait." As a school, we teach our students to be purposeful with their choices and educate them about KINDNESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, GRATITUDE, EMPATHY, COOPERATION, PERSEVERANCE, COURAGE, HONESTY, and CREATIVITY. Students are also recognized for accomplishments in music, being a good friend or role model, or showing significant improvement in academics or behavior. Monthly, we also offer all-school incentives, ranging from an extra recess to an all-school dance, which students earn by demonstrating positive behavioral choices.
Our school works closely with the Town of Abrams, its surrounding communities, and the families who attend school here. We are deeplly committed to providing the necessary support to all our families, regardless of the level of need.
